Project Overview

Sky Asia DMC needed a travel website that did more than display packages. They needed a platform that builds immediate trust with first-time visitors, guides users toward relevant packages without friction, and converts browsing intent into booking inquiries — all while communicating the breadth of their domestic and international portfolio.

Requirements

  • Clean, immersive homepage with destination-first visual storytelling
  • Unified search experience covering flight, car, tour packages, hotels, and cruise
  • Smart package recommendation system with trust-building stats
  • Destination-category browsing with clear pricing and offer visibility
  • About section communicating brand credibility and regional expertise
  • Trust-reinforcing "Why Choose" section with feature benefits
  • Social proof through client testimonials
  • SEO-friendly footer with domestic and international package links
  • Mobile-responsive layout across all sections

Problem Statements

  • Travel websites in the mid-market segment suffer from visual clutter and overwhelming navigation, causing high bounce rates before users find relevant packages.
  • Sky Asia DMC had a strong portfolio of 1000+ international and 700+ domestic packages with no clear discovery architecture — users couldn't quickly find what matched their intent.
  • The existing design lacked visual authority and trust signals, making it difficult to compete with OTA platforms like MakeMyTrip and Thomas Cook in first-impression credibility.
  • The booking search bar was a single generic field — not segmented by travel type (flight, hotel, car, cruise, tour), which reduced usability for different traveller intents.
  • Package pricing was either missing or buried, making comparison and decision-making slow and frustrating for cost-conscious travellers.
  • The mobile experience was inconsistent, affecting a user base that primarily browses travel options on smartphones.

Solution & Results

  • Designed an immersive full-width hero with a multi-tab search bar segmented by travel type — Flight, Car, Tour Packages, Hotels, and Cruise Support — giving users an immediate, relevant starting point.
  • Built a "Recommended For You" section with a stat sidebar (1000+ international packages, 700+ domestic packages, 50+ trusted hotels, 60+ available cars) that anchors credibility before the user scrolls further.
  • Created a visually consistent package card system with destination photography, offer pricing with strikethrough originals, and clear CTAs — reducing cognitive load and increasing price transparency.
  • Designed an "About" section with a dual-tone layout combining brand photography with body copy and a bullet-point trust list (Expertise in Northeast India Travel, Customised Itineraries, 24x7 Support, Trusted Network of Local Partners, Seamless Booking Experience).
  • Introduced a destination spotlight banner for featured regions (Sri Lanka) with promotional pricing to capture seasonal booking intent.
  • Built a "Why Choose Sky Asia DMC" grid with five icon-based benefit blocks (Trusted Advisor, Responsive, Memorable Experiences, Ease, Recognised and Connect) to handle objections before they surface.
  • Designed a four-card testimonial section with avatar, star rating, and read-more structure — creating social proof without overwhelming the layout.
  • Built an SEO-structured footer with organised link columns Domestic Packages, International Travel, and Quick Links — improving crawlability and internal discovery.

Design Process

The process began with a competitive audit of mid-market travel platforms in India. We mapped three core user intents — destination discovery, package comparison, and booking initiation — and built every section around serving at least one of these intents clearly. Navigation architecture was designed to reduce clicks-to-package from 4 to 2. Visual hierarchy was established using destination photography as the primary trust mechanism, followed by pricing transparency, then social proof.

Style Guide & Component

The visual language was built around sky blue as the primary brand colour, referencing both the brand name and the aspiration of travel. White surfaces kept the layout clean and trustworthy. Destination photography served as the dominant visual element across all package cards and banners. Typography used a bold sans-serif for headings and a readable mid-weight for body — prioritising scanning over reading. The component system included a multi-tab search bar, package pricing cards, destination banners, icon-benefit grids, testimonial cards, and a structured footer link system.

Wireframe & UI Design

Wireframes were built section by section — starting with the hero search architecture, then the package recommendation hierarchy, followed by the about and trust sections. Each wireframe was reviewed against conversion intent before progressing to high-fidelity design. The package grid layout was tested in both 2-column and 3-column variants before settling on a 3-column grid that balanced visual density with image impact. The footer structure was mapped to SEO requirements to ensure domestic and international destination pages received proper internal link equity.

Client Feedback

Rajesh Mondal — Director, Sky Asia DMC Pvt. Ltd.

Our old website looked like a brochure. This feels like a platform. MHR Studio understood exactly what a traveller needs to see before they pick up the phone and book. The package cards, the search bar, the Sri Lanka banner — every section is working for us now. Inquiries have gone up noticeably since launch.
